What is Marksmanship?

Based on Olympic-style competition and specifically designed for youth, cadets learn to shoot air rifles— specifically the Daisy 853C/935C— in the Cadet Marksmanship Program.  They will learn how to handle firearms safely and properly, developing their confidence, focus, responsibility, teamwork, self-discipline, sports etiquette, and respect for firearms.  Tryouts are held every year for those interested in joining the Marksmanship Team, regardless of their experience levels.  The team practices every Friday at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club throughout the year to prepare for the yearly competitions.

Achievable Qualifications:

On open-shoot days and at team practices, all cadets have the opportunity to earn their Marksmanship badges based on their results from 10 shots on 2 targets.  There are 4 qualifications:

Cadets on the Marksmanship Team are awarded pins when they participate in

competitions.  There are 3 pins to be awarded depending on the level of competition a cadet reaches.
